Over $473,000 has been raised for the Western Regional Hospital in Corner Brook thanks to a recent radiothon held on 570 VOCM
The eight-hour Western Regional Hospital Foundation Radiothon supports the purchase of essential healthcare equipment at the hospital.
The funds include a $200,000 matching pledge from the provincial government.
Matching pledges were also honoured by the Bank of Montreal and the Western Regional Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
A similar radiothon was scheduled for earlier this week in support of the Dr. Charles L. Legrow Healthcare Foundation in Port aux Basques. However, that was postponed due to ongoing relief efforts in the region from Hurricane Fiona.
The Western Regional Hospital Foundation has announced that 10 per cent of all call-in pledges from their radiothon will be provided to the centre in Port aux Basques.
