The official Kraft Hockeyville community celebration takes place in Twillingate today.
The town was the winner of the annual Kraft Hockeyville contest—which comes with $250,000 in cash for arena upgrades and an NHL preseason game—back in 2020, but COVID delayed celebrations.
The George Hawkins Arena will host community celebrations today from 4 to 7 p.m. featuring the Stanley Cup, NHL Alumni Stephane Richer of the Montreal Canadiens and Chris Neil of the Ottawa Senators, food and local entertainment.
Mayor Justin Blackler says it’s an exciting time in town.
He says all the kids are fitted out with their favourite hockey jerseys and a lot of hard work and long hours are coming together for an exciting celebration.
Meanwhile, the big game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators is taking place tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at the Steele Community Centre in Gander.
