Work at the Come By Chance refinery has resumed following a workplace incident that sent eight workers to hospital, some with serious injuries.
The flash fire occurred on Friday, September 2, during work to convert the old refinery into a facility to produce renewable fuels.
Work at the refinery was halted while police and Occupational Health and Safety investigations were carried out.
Braya Renewable Fuels says work has since fully resumed at the facility.
Three of the eight people injured in the incident remain in hospital and the company remains focused on the well-being of their injured co-workers. The company says it is focused on the safe restart of construction for the more than 600 workers at the site and will reassess project timelines in the coming weeks.
They currently expect to begin producing fuel in early 2023.
