The number of patients requiring follow-up as the result of a review of mammogram images in three of the province’s regional health authorities has risen to 33.
Eastern Health, Western Health, and Labrador-Grenfell Health say they are 93 per cent through the review. And 99.7 per cent of the approximately 10,900 patients identified have seen no change.
The review was prompted after Central Health discovered that some mammograms conducted in recent years had been viewed on a 3-megapixel viewing station instead of the standard 5-megapixel, which picks up a finer image.
Patients whose images show possible discrepancies are being contacted for follow-up.
