The premiere screening of a recently completed documentary on a well-known Newfoundland town is set for this evening at Memorial University.
The Village at the End of the Road about the historic town of Bay de Verde was five years in the making.
The filmmakers are calling it a local story with global significance, outlining the struggle to survive in the wake of overfishing and government mismanagement of the fishery.
The film is the work of cultural anthropologist with the University of San Francisco George Gmelch and documentary filmmaker Dennis Lanson.
The screening is scheduled for this evening at 7:00 p.m. in room A-1046 at Memorial University.
