The town of Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove has received a financial boost from the federal government to develop a trail system in the town.
St. John’s East MP Joanne Thompson has announced $20,000 to fund the planning and design of the system.
Mayor Denis Hickey says the money will go towards a concept plan, however, there are no timelines in place yet for the work to be done.
Hickey says there is a big demand for a trail network in the town.
He explains that there are no sidewalks in the community, and a lot of the roads are narrow, which doesn’t make them very safe for walking. He says this will provide a framework for safer conditions and improved connectivity to the main centre of Kelly Park.
