People dressed in blue and yellow and with umbrellas despite clear skies rallied on Confederation Hill last evening in solidarity with Ukraine in light of the heavy shelling of the country by Russia.
The umbrellas symbolize the shielding of Ukrainian skies. The goal is to encourage western governments to supply Ukraine with anti-aircraft capabilities to protect the sky over the war-torn country.
Over 175 Ukrainians arrived at St. John’s International Airport this week to begin a new life in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Tonight, an impromptu ‘rally’ was held on the steps of Confederation Building in support of Ukraine and the fight against the criminal invasion by Russia. I am so proud to work with these amazing people. We are so much better because they are amongst us! @IPGS_GovNL pic.twitter.com/wTQlEL6W3O
