The politicians of tomorrow took to the House of Assembly on Friday for the annual Future of the Vote event.
The event, formerly known as Daughters of the Vote, saw 40 young women and other gender-diverse people visit Confederation Building, interact with politicians, participate in workshops, and even participate in a debate inside the House of Assembly.
The event is designed to give participants a better understanding of government and politics, give them a taste of what political life is all about, and encourage them to get involved in the future.
Program participant Lesley Pilgrim, who’s from St. Anthony, says participating in the program was “very inspiring.”
She says in her hometown, there’s a small group that’s involved municipally and provincially, but participating in Future of the Vote has allowed her to meet many others with similar interests. She calls it “invigorating” to be a part of the program.
