Two people from Romania have been arrested after allegedly targeting thousands of dollars worth perfumes from Shoppers Drug Mart stores in the province. RCMP nabbed them on the Marine Atlantic ferry in Port aux Basques Tuesday night prior to departure.

They were in court Wednesday and remain in custody today with another court appearance set for tomorrow in Gander.

The pair entered the Shoppers Drug Mart in Stephenville Tuesday night but were asked to leave by an employee. Police were given a description of their vehicle and a short time later located the pair in Port aux Basques.

It’s believed that the two stole about $8,000 worth of perfumes from Shoppers in Paradise and St. John’s on Sunday.

Police are trying to confirm their identities and are seeking a warrant to search their vehicle.
