The Corner Brook Fire Department is reminding residents of ways to stay safe while celebrating Guy Fawkes Night this weekend.
The west coast fire department is advising people of a number of guidelines to follow while enjoying the bonfires.
Residents are asked to use an appropriate and safe location away from buildings and combustibles, and have a responsible adult supervising at all times.
People must only burn normal combustibles like wood and paper, meaning no petroleum-based material is permitted.
The bonfire’s size should not exceed the capacity of the extinguishing devices that are kept on-site and should not be lit when wind conditions can cause embers to ignite the surrounding area.
