Police have positively identified human remains found near Three Island Pond Road in Paradise.

Police, forensics experts and the Rovers Ground Search and Rescue were called to the scene after the discovery was made Monday morning.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office was involved in the investigation to positively identify the remains and perhaps determine the cause of death.

There are a number of outstanding high-profile missing persons cases in the region including 33-year-old Trever Hamlyn, last seen in June of 2018, and Cortney Lake who disappeared in June of 2017.

The RNC has called a news conference for 11 a.m. this morning at RNC Headquarters.
