The capital city is getting a brand new track and field facility as part of the build up to the 2025 Canada Summer Games.
Recreation Minister Steve Crocker made the announcement in the House of Assembly today.
Crocker says the facility will support the summer games and give athletes and coaches a “top-notch” facility to train and perform in, as well as support healthy living opportunities for residents long after the games have ended.
Crocker says the project will be cost shared between federal, provincial and municipal governments, noting that the city is issuing an RFP for the new facility today.
The topic was brought up once again by Crocker following question from PC Loyola O’Driscoll about the province being slow on getting federal infrastructure funds moving.
Crocker points out that he stood in the House earlier to announce the new track and field complex. He says announcements like that and like the St. Clare’s replacement are infrastructure.
