It was a raucous session of the House of Assembly today with barbs, cat calls and even a few apologies.
Things ramped up with accusations surrounding cuts to health care staffing on the coast of Labrador.
In the preamble to a question on the sugar tax, Opposition finance critic Tony Wakeham, the former CEO of Labrador-Grenfell Health, took a swipe at the Liberal government for taking nursing staff out of the health care system in 2016.
That prompted a quick response from Labrador Affairs Minister Lisa Dempster.
Dempster says when government sought Labrador-Grenfell Health to find 30 per cent savings in the region, she claims Wakeham suggested the removal of the nurse from Black Tickle. She accused Wakeham of “mismanagement” leading to a higher salary for the nurse in the community and forcing cuts to be made.
