A man was arrested and charged following a dramatic series of events on board a passenger bus in Deer Lake.
RCMP say 26-year-old Aaron Day was arrested this week in Deer Lake after allegedly assaulting the bus driver and then refusing to get off the bus.
Officers arrived at the scene around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and started communicating with an uncooperative Day. The other passengers were evacuated from the bus, one of whom was also assaulted.
Police say Day was eventually arrested and taken into custody. He’s now facing charges of assault, assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, causing a disturbance, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of a release order.
Day appeared in court yesterday and has been remanded to custody pending another court appearance on November 10.
