A new report from Startup Genome is highlighting some of the positive work being done to develop a blue economy in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Kendra MacDonald, CEO of Canada’s Ocean Supercluster, explains that the blue economy is essentially all ocean-related industries such as shipping, fishing, and aquaculture.
In the report, which looks at industry startup activity and how they’re growing, MacDonald says Atlantic Canada cracked the top 10.
Specifically for this province, she states there is a lot of activity here, with Newfoundland partners involved in about half of their national portfolio.
She says that demonstrates that the “sky’s the limit” for the blue economy here.
