Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador put a wrap on its AGM and trade show in Gander yesterday.
The event with the theme Building Connections, saw delegates tackle and debate a number of pressing issues including regionalization, infrastructure, clean drinking water, housing and climate change, to name just a few.
A resolution was also passed on the thorny topic of protection for councillors from abuse, harassment and bullying when it comes to picket lines.
MNL president Amy Coady, who is also a councillor in Grand Falls-Windsor, was asked if that had anything to do with the recent strike in Mount Pearl.
She confirms it did, noting it was brought to the floor by the City of Mount Pearl, generating a good debate that led to delegates voting in favour of the resolution.
Regional directors were also up for election this year, with the current Eastern and Western representatives acclaimed.
That left votes pending for positions in the Labrador, Northern, Central and Avalon regions.
