A happy ending to the case of a missing dog in Paradise.
Henri, an older dog with dementia, got loose on Wednesday night.
Owner Tracy Francis attempted to get his attention, but with Henri’s hearing impairment, he did not respond. Shortly after, Francis shared a post on social media which led many residents to offer their help in the search.
She says with the cold and damp weather on Wednesday night, she didn’t think he would last.
Francis says she was petrified. She says it couldn’t have happened at a worse time as weather conditions had been great until Wednesday night.
Henri was spotted in the cold and rain 24 hours after his escape but ran to the trees when he was approached. The search, which occupied all of Thursday, ended when a neighbor found Henri whimpering behind a house on Paradise Road.
Francis said she had lost hope, but it was the community that kept her going.
She says people she didn’t even know relatively well came out to search with her for hours when they could have been doing other things. She is thankful to everyone who offered their well wishes and took the time to help find Henri.
Aside from a few twigs in his fur, Henri is now safe and sound with his family.
