This Friday we remember our veterans but next Wednesday is set aside for a remembrance event for victims of road traffic accidents.
Each year, people who have been killed or seriously injured in a traffic accident are remembered by their loved ones at a public event.
The Minister responsible for Motor Vehicle Registration, Sarah Stoodley, says government has taken steps to make our highways safer by changing laws.
As of April 3, the cost of a speeding ticket goes up and the penalties for stunting and racing will be heavier.
Stoodley says that younger drivers should also take note of the new laws.
If you don’t have your full classified license yet, you would lose the license immediately. Anyone caught stunting will lose their vehicle for seven days, up from the current term of two days.
The event is set for 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16.
