Regionalization was high on the agenda of last week’s MNL conference in Gander.
The annual general meeting ran from Wednesday to Saturday, and included a who’s who of the province’s municipal players past and present.
There were many items on the agenda, from infrastructure and clean drinking water, to housing and climate change. But Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador president Amy Coady says there’s no question regionalization hogged the spotlight.
She says she can’t stress enough the importance of moving forward with the process, adding she realizes the costs involved but that the status quo cannot be an option.
The province has said it will move forward with a plan ASAP based on a recent report and recommendations received.
