Opposition Leader David Brazil’s return to the House of Assembly saw him focusing questions on the province’s health care system.
Brazil suffered a near-fatal heart attack in early October and today was his first time back in the House following that event.
While he was warmly welcomed back to the Legislature, his experience and what he witnessed formed the basis of his questions to Premier Andrew Furey.
Brazil thanked the “hard-working staff” of the Health Sciences and throughout Newfoundland and Labrador “for their dedication every single day.” He says he saw one nurse working a 16-hour shift and paramedics waiting to unload their ambulances for hours at the entrance of emergency rooms. Premier Andrew Furey welcomed Brazil back in the House and says government is working on the challenges faced in the health care system.
