A Carbonear couple is one million dollars richer after winning the Maxmillions prize in the October 18 Lotto Max draw.

Michael Davis says he was told by store staff that someone in Carbonear had won a million dollars but never imagined it was him.

When he got home his partner Kristie Bernier scanned his ticket and “Major Prize” came up on the screen. “I was flippin’ out,” said Bernier.

The couple will pay off their house, do some renovations, and buy a new vehicle and a camping trailer. They also intend to help their three sons and make donations to causes that are close to their hearts.
