There’s a special Come Home Year Concert of Remembrance this Friday in St. John’s.
It’s a powerful musical event at the Basilica with choirs and performers coming together.
The 18 celebrates the children of London’s Beatrix Potter School, who preserve, uplift and illuminate the memory of 18 Newfoundlanders laid to rest far from home during World War I. The students are in the metro region this week to visit the homeland of the fallen soldiers.
There is a star-studded list of performers and groups according to organizer and Come From Away star Petrina Bromley.
The 18 is woven together with performances by The Ennis Sisters, Petrina Bromley, Mason Dicker & Annabelle Ramsay, Lakecrest Chamber Choir, Lady Cove Women’s Choir, La Rose des vents, Newman Sound Men’s Choir, The NL Deaf Choir, The Royal Newfoundland Regiment Band, Silver Voices from Corner Brook and The Singing Legionnaires.
Admission is free but donations will be accepted at the door for the Poppy Campaign to support veterans and their families. The event starts at 2:00 p.m. Friday.
