Newfoundland and Labrador is being represented at the United Nations climate change conference in Egypt this week, and Premier Andrew Furey says government is over there to make sure the province’s position is “well known.”
Environment and Climate Change Minister Bernard Davis is in the country this week for the event, known as COP27, to promote the province’s renewable energy sector.
Premier Furey says the province has a valuable product with respect to its carbon footprint, while also having opportunities in the renewable space.
He says it is not just him and the Chancellor of Germany that are interested in producing such energy, it’s governments all over the world. Furey believes this province has something that other areas don’t.
