The price of diesel is going through the roof at around $3 per litre in the province, and a market watcher expects it to go higher.
The Public Utilities Board has jumped in twice since the weekend to hike the cost by close to 60 cents a litre.
Dan McTeague, President of Canadians for Affordable Energy, didn’t expect such whopping increases so soon but it’s indicative of high demand and scarce supply.
The former Come By Chance refinery will eventually produce bio-diesel fuel but McTeague says that’s too little, too late.
He says we’re now dealing with the problems with diesel around the world that won’t be made any easier. He says the sky is the limit with the cost—$3.20, $3.30.
