Government has made a number of amendments to the Wildlife Act in an attempt to improve access to outdoor experiences and resources.
Amendments include streamlining the bureaucratic process for big game hunters who donate meat to registered food banks and providing ministerial authority to define residency requirement criteria for members of law enforcement and the military.
Government says that due to the positive reception of the recent pilot program allowing food banks to collect and give out big game meat, amendments have been made to make the process easier, while also addressing previously identified issues such as documentation for licensed butchers, food banks, food bank clients, and hunters who donate meat to third parties.
