Politicians are finished barking at each other until the spring sitting.
The House of Assembly went well into the evening winding down and passing everything on the order paper, including the controversial Bill 20. That’s the Bill that merges the four health authorities and the Centre for Health Information into one entity.
That piece of legislation caught the eye of the Privacy Commissioner who was concerned about the protection of personal information including that the minister of health would have the final say on the release of such.
Health Minister Tom Osborne says government and the commissioner have committed to working with each other on certain sections of Bill 20, which passed last night.
There is one section of the Bill that they did not see eye to eye on, but Osborne believes it can be dealt with through the Public Health Information Act.
