Lewisporte RCMP are asking parents to check their children’s Halloween treats after receiving a report of a small metal pin inside a chocolate bar.
Police received a call from Lewisporte Academy this week to report that a child discovered the pin inside a bar after biting into it.
The pin stuck inside the child’s mouth, but was safely removed.
Police have released a picture of the metal pin, next to a ruler and a thumb tack to provide a sense of the scale of the pin.
It’s not believed that the pin was embedded into the bar during the manufacturing process, but contact has been made with the manufacturer to investigate all possibilities.
Parents are encouraged to thoroughly inspect all Halloween treats and report any suspicious findings to police.
