The St. John’s Junior Hockey League has donated $3,000 to Hurricane Fiona relief efforts.
The money is the result of a fundraiser held over a number of games league-wide.
League president Jim Hare says their members really stepped up.
Three players from storm-ravaged Port aux Basques, who play for the Pizza Express Northeast Eagles, were on hand for the cheque presentation.
Player Alex Carter says the devastation in Port aux Basques “cannot be understated.”
He calls the people of Port aux Basques a “resilient bunch,” noting they are working hard to get everything back in order.
