Here’s a good example of why laws are in place restricting people from discharging a firearm near residential areas.
RCMP on the southwest coast believe that a rifle round which struck a home on Ridgeview Crescent in Isle aux Morts was a stray bullet which may have been fired by a hunter from a distant wooded area.
The bullet struck the home last Saturday morning during the daylight hours, went through an exterior wall, and then an interior wall before landing in a bedroom closet.
The home was unoccupied at the time.
The Provincial Wildlife Act prohibits a person from discharging a firearm within 1,000 metres of a school, playground or athletic field or within 300 metres of a dwelling.
