A contract has been awarded for the replacement of Romaine’s River Bridge on the Port au Port Highway, Route 460 on the west coast.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure awarded the $7.8 million contract to Complete Concrete Solutions Ltd.
The work will include the construction of a new concrete girder, two-span bridge with a concrete deck on the south side of the current bridge, realignment of the highway and the removal of the existing 8.8 metre bridge.
The new bridge will be 12 metres wide, capable of withstanding increased water flow during major weather events and will be resistant to ice damming.
The project, funded through the Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation Fund, is expected to be completed in 2024.
