NL Hydro is offering more information on a brief, but widespread power outage this morning.
Hydro describes the outage as a “significant event.” The utility says the Maritime Link had been ramped down following scheduled exports to Nova Scotia, resulting in what it calls “significant power swings.”
That triggered Under Frequency Load shedding across the system resulting in a brief power outage.
The system has since been stabilized. Hydro is investigating the initial cause of the outage.
