The provincial government is weighing its options to see what areas of forest burned during massive fires in central this past summer will be left to rejuvenate naturally and what will be helped along through tree-planting.
A complete assessment of the damage done by the fires is still underway and Director of Forestry Engineering and Industry Services, Colin Carroll, says part of that assessment will determine what action is necessary in terms of reforestation.
He says all options are open and they’re entertaining significant replanting in addition to allowing some areas to rejuvenate naturally.
