Supply chain issues when it comes to lettuce are causing some local restaurants to limit use of or completely remove some items off the menu.
My Place Restaurant at TC Square in Carbonear recently took to Facebook to say that due to the high cost of lettuce they are temporarily ditching their salad options until prices improve. Notices indicating similar problems have been seen at other establishments.
In a statement, Atlantic Grocery Distributors say that weather conditions in lettuce-producing areas, including a drought in California, have been unfavorable. As such, they say they are seeing shortages of the product, and the quality and price of what they are seeing has been “greatly impacted.”
They are working with suppliers to get the best price and quality possible.
