The MHA who first formally asked the Auditor General to inspect the books at Nalcor six years ago says it’s clear that the Crown corporation was totally out of control.
AG Denise Hanrahan has found that compensation and benefits significantly exceeded the norm across the public service and were beyond the industry standard.
Part of Nalcor has since been absorbed by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro with the creation of another Crown corporation, Oilco, to oversee its oil and gas interests.
Mount Pearl-Southlands MHA Paul Lane now wishes to see the AG set her sights on Oilco as he suspects many of the same compensation practices and packages at Nalcor and Hydro may also exist within that entity.
