The province’s opposition parties call the findings of the Auditor General’s report into spending at Nalcor “alarming.”

AG Denise Hanrahan released the findings yesterday, which displayed pay scales that were well beyond what is seen in the rest of the provincial government.

PC Leader David Brazil says her report shows a lack of accountability within government.

He says now we find out that not only is there no accountability, but it has gotten worse. He says there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be in line with other government agencies.

NDP Interim Leader Jim Dinn says the money spent by Nalcor could have been better used.

He says whenever he brings up issues or initiatives to help people with the cost of living, he’s asked by government where the money is coming from, but when it comes to paying Nalcor executives, money is no problem.
