The Registered Nurses Union is welcoming efforts to hire nurse practitioners for family practice across the province.
The RHAs have been instructed by government to go ahead and start hiring nurse practitioners.
RNC President Yvette Coffey says allowing nurse practitioners to open offices under the regional health authorities and with support staff should help to alleviate a lot of the pressure currently felt in ERs.
She says by the end of the next five years they’re hoping to have 35 Community Care Teams established.
