The Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of Labour is holding its fourth triennial convention next week in St. John’s—the last such gathering for long-time President, Mary Shortall.
Shortall has been at the helm for close to a decade and says now is a good time to step aside.
“Nine years is a long time,” says Shortall, and while she’s retiring from the job, she’ll still be around; “my activism is not retiring,” she says.
The Federation of Labour represents more than 25 affiliated unions, representing 70,000 members.
