A scam Facebook page impersonating VOCM staff is making its rounds on social media.

A caller to the newsroom alerted VOCM to the scam, involving a Facebook account pretending to be Greg Smith and Claudette Barnes replying to a comment she made on a post from over four years ago, telling her to visit the account’s page to see a prize she just won.

The fake account’s post says it is choosing 20 people from the comments section to win $20,000. It asks people to “register” their names by clicking a link.

The account also uses official promotional images, which have been edited to reflect the fake contest.

VOCM is asking people not to click the link and to report the account if encountered.
