The Department of Fisheries says it will not be completing the annual fall survey—something fish harvesters see as cause for concern.

The survey, which supplies data on Atlantic cod and snow crab, could have an impact on the commercial fishing industry.

FFAW-Unifor President Keith Sullivan says If harvesters do not have up-to-date and reliable information on species, it can cause delays with fisheries development.

DFO did not conduct the survey in fall of 2021 and data collected by fish harvesters was compiled to create a management plan for the 2022 season.
