A growing number of residents on the Port au Port Peninsula say they’re being left in the dark concerning World Energy GH2’s windfarm and hydrogen project being proposed for the area.
The company is erecting five wind measurement towers, but local residents say they’re not satisfied with the amount of information available.
Nadine Tallack of the Environmental Transparency Committee says a public meeting in Stephenville on Saturday was well attended with many people expressing serious concerns about an apparent lack of information and what they say is the feeling that things are being rushed along.
The company is proposing to erect dozens of 654-foot-tall towers on the Port au Port Peninsula.
Tallack says nobody seems to know what the environmental impact of the project will be. She says the project is dividing the community.
