A 43-year-old snowmobiler was sent to hospital after being rescued from the woods this morning.
At around 1 a.m. today, Bay St. George RCMP received a call about a snowmobiler who had been missing for a number of hours in the Camp 38 Road area in the back country between Stephenville and Gallants.
A group who had been travelling with the man located his overturned machine on the trail and saw footprints in the snow, however they could not find him. He was not properly dressed for the conditions.
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and Stephenville Ground Search and Rescue were deployed and conducted ground and aerial searches, with ground search and rescue locating the man this morning.
He was airlifted out of the woods and transported to Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook. His condition is unknown.
