The provincial government has officially cancelled public exams for high school students for the 2022-2023 school year.
Public exams were first cancelled as the result of schools being closed during the first wave of COVID in 2020 and were cancelled over the next two years as well.
Government says the decision is part of the Department of Education expanding its review of the K-12 system.
They say that the public exam system, as it existed pre-COVID, “may no longer meet the educational needs of students.”
They say they are looking at creating an “innovative, up-to-date system of evaluating high school students.”
There’s no word on when that review is expected to be complete.
