Federal cabinet minister Seamus O’Regan insists that the carbon tax is a good thing financially for most Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
When you take into account the rebate cheques—$164 quarterly for each person—O’Regan says eight of ten people in this province will be better off come July 1 when the tax on fuel, including home heat, gas, and diesel, takes effect.
O’Regan says the two out of ten who won’t be better off are those in the high-income bracket.
