As predicted, much of the island experienced brief but widespread power outages right across the island this morning.
NL Hydro warned that power bumps might occur as testing on the Labrador-Island Link is conducted today.
Hydro cautioned that electricity equipment may come offline, or trip, suddenly for many different locations. Trips often occur without any customer impact however, as we saw a couple of weeks ago, the trips could lead to outages.
Widespread outages started being reported at 10 a.m. across the island from St. John’s to Corner Brook, but were quickly resolved. Hydro assures that they can typically restore service for “Under Frequency Load Shedding” within 30 minutes.
Testing on the LIL is occurring today and more testing is expected early next week.
