The provincial government has entered a two-year partnership with Mitacs that will help local tech companies attract the employees that they are seeking.
The two-year, $2 million partnership will see some 500 internships created for students at both MUN and College of the North Atlantic.
The program will help attract and prepare students for work in their fields and help fill the demand for workers.
Tash Ismail, Chief Business Development Officer at Mitacs, says the more funding they get from the province, the more of an impact they can make here because they take that investment, and essentially triple it through industry and federal funds, which in the end results in increased revenue for the province.
