The Department of Finance says it has not received many calls about $500 dollar cost of living benefit cheques going out to the wrong address.
The department was responding to questions raised since the cheques started being distributed earlier this month.
The cheques are going out in the mail, prompting some people to question what to do if a cheque comes to the wrong address.
The department says it has not received many calls on the issue, and while it anticipates receiving returned mail, so far it has not been a significant issue.
In the meantime, someone who has passed away since filing their 2021 income tax, is still eligible for the payment. In those cases, the administrator or executor of the deceased person’s estate can deposit the cheque.
