A United Airlines flight headed for Barcelona made an unexpected stop in St. John’s early Saturday morning.
The aircraft, which originated from New York, made an emergency landing at YYT after smoke was reported in one of its cabins.
St. John’s Regional Fire Department was called on shortly before midnight, with the flight landing about 15 minutes later.
Passengers and crews were evacuated upon arrival. No smoke or fire was found on board the Boeing 767-400 and there were no injuries reported.
A second aircraft is en route to St. John’s to complete the trip to Spain.
