Broadway musical hit Come From Away has been ranked number eight on The Times’ list of the 25 best musicals of all time.
The list itself is broken up into two sections: one comprising 20 on-stage musicals, and a second section ranking five movie musicals.
On the list of stage productions, Come From Away ranks at number eight. That puts them ahead of classics like The Sound of Music and Jesus Christ Superstar, and other modern hits like Matilda and Hamilton.
West Side Story took the number one spot.
Writers Irene Sankoff and David Hein reacted to the ranking on Twitter, saying they’re honoured and surprised by the ranking.
Incredibly honoured & surprised to have @wecomefromaway named #8 in the top musicals of all time by @thetimes (after West Side Story, My Fair Lady, Guys & Dolls, Kiss Me Kate, Gypsy, Oklahoma & Chicago). 😳🤯💀Congrats to our whole @ComeFromAwayUK family!https://t.co/ZSeepQ1HOa
