St. John’s Mayor Danny Breen says the city is experiencing a lot of the same pressures caused by inflation that ordinary citizens are seeing.

However, Breen can’t say if tax increases are in the offing this year.

The town of Paradise brought down its municipal budget this week with an increase in the mil rate, citing rising costs.

The capital city’s budget is due December 12.

Mayor Breen says rising costs are having an impact on the services the city provides to residents.

He says diesel alone has an impact on snow clearing and public transportation.

That said, Breen believes the city is in a good position with sound fiscal management.
