Police believe alcohol was the cause of a single-vehicle crash on the Conception Bay highway near Brigus on Thursday.
RCMP and the Brigus Fire Department were called just before noon after a pickup went off the road and down over a hill.
Police say the driver showed signs of impairment as he walked away from the scene.
The 36-year-old man was arrested and treated in hospital for injuries suffered in the crash.
RCMP say they are awaiting the results of a blood sample to determine if impaired driving charges are warranted.
